Carabinieri.

The Carabinieri corps in Italy appeared back in 1844 by order of the head of the Sardinian Kingdom - Victor Emmanuel I. It was supposed to be a separate formation, called upon to monitor security on the mainland of the kingdom.

It was a real elite of light infantry, since all its soldiers were taught to read and write.

But the Carabinieri got their name from their equipment. The fact is that these were the first troops that began to use lightweight rifles, called carbines.

Despite his gloss, a real Carabinieri can rush into fire, and into water, and copper pipes, if necessary, pass. Currently, the Carabinieri unit includes a diving center, a special intervention group, dog handlers, helicopter squadrons, paratroopers, as well as naval and medical services.

The Carabinieri perform police functions on the territory of the Italian Republic and military police functions during foreign operations of the Italian armed forces and as part of the European Gendarmerie. Alpine riflemen.

The Alpini (Italian: Alpini, "Alpines") or Alpine riflemen are the oldest mountain rifle formation of the Italian Army, founded in 1872.

The task of the Alpini was to protect the Italian border with France and Austria. During the First World War, they opposed the German Alpine Corps and the Austrian Kaiserjagers.

In 1919, the 9th Alpine Regiment was formed.

In 1935, the Italian government created five divisions and the 11th Alpine Regiment. In 1941, the 6th Alpine Division was created, which included reserves from the other five Alpine divisions.

During World War II, the Alpini saw action.

Currently, the Alpine riflemen are divided into two operational brigades, subordinate to the Italian Alpine Troops Command.

An essential attribute of each shooter is the capello alpino hat, consisting of many elements that show the military rank, regiment and specialty of the soldier.
